What incredibly wise words, Cali!

I have followed my own body rythmns for seven years now. I find that I slow down as soon as November arrives and the days shorten. I used to get very down at this time but now I put on an extra sweater, make myself some soup and settle down with a good book or talk to friends on the phone. Far from stressing myself with unrealistic resolutions, I use this time to network; to build strong relationships which will bolster me and give me strength. January is a nuturing time; a time for relaxation and recovery that I have come to love. I know that when February comes, the nights will start to draw out, the snowdrops will be peeking through and my energy levels will start to rise. Meanwhile, I use January to recharge my batteries and my friendships. I make sure that I check on everyone that I haven't talked to for a while, especially those who live alone - they really appreciate it.

I look forward to this time now but it has taken a few years to reframe my thinking. Learn to nurture your body and you will be delighted to find that you also will nurture your spirit.

Leave your lofty resolutions for when you are stronger. Small steps now will turn into giant leaps before you know it!
